Protein Coffee

Protein Coffee in a coffee mug, toped with whipped cream

As a mother of small children, coffee is my friend….my BEST friend.  As a woman trying to lose weight and gain lean muscle, protein is also my friend.  So when trainer Irene of GetUFit posted this recipe idea, I knew I HAD to give it a try.

This is SOOOO good people.  All the great taste of coffee, with a hint of yummy vanilla and punch of protein. Depending on what vanilla whey powder you use, you’ll be adding about 10-12 grams of protein to your morning coffee! AWESOME, right?! Pair this tasty beverage with a  Power Muffin or Greek yogurt with some fruit  for a complete powerhouse of a breakfast!

  1. This sounds like just what I need! I love coffee in the morning and I surely need the extra protein without the extra calories. I have a Kuerig coffee maker so all I need is the whey. I will definitely give this a try and pass it on to my daughter who already has both! Thanks Corey for the great recipes!

Afternoons are my lag times. So i did the above by adding the powder to the water then to my ice coffee. It allowed me to use less cream and was awesome! Thanx for sharing!

    1. I am so glad you liked it Mary 🙂

      1. What brand of protein do you use? I get confused. The protein I have now has stevia. I didn’t read the label. I am 79 and want a good protein vanilla powder.
        Thanks

    1. I know! It’s the best of both worlds 🙂

  6. I’ve been doing this for a while. I whir (?) little cool coffee with the powder in my magic bullet. Sometimes I go crazy and use CHOCOLATE protein powder! Sometimes I also add cinnamon! Crazy! 🙂

I tried this but just smile not getting it. 3 T powder + 2T hot water made a crumbled paste. I added more hot water and got a nut butter sort of consistency. I went forward anyway and added met warm black coffee. Lumpy undrinkable mess. Can you send pics of your process. I just have to get more protein in and am trying to change from bullitt proof coffee which I love.
Thank you so much for any help.

I had the same problem with it being a chunky, nasty texture. I have a handheld blender that my kids used to make ice cream shakes… I used the blender on it and it was smooth and frothy and wonderful!
