One Pot Cheesy Pasta and Sausage

One Pot Cheesy Pasta and Sausage Family Recipe - Family Fresh Meals

When you need to get dinner on the table in a hurry, it’s hard to go wrong with pasta. It’s quick, it’s easy, and even picky eaters are happy with it. But let’s face it, if you just serve spaghetti and meatballs every time you’re in a hurry, it gets old pretty fast. So, to keep pasta interesting, you have to mix it up.

For a start, you can swap out the meatballs for delicious smoked sausage. This makes the meal even faster because the sausage is already cooked, so all you have to do is brown it. With some onions, of course, because everything goes better with browned onions.

Thank you! This sounds good and easy!! I’m teaching my niece simple recipes for her to cook for her Dad (he has Parkinsons) while her Mom is working. She can add a salad and she is done except clean up!

  2. My family doesn’t like tomatoes any thing I should substitute with ? Are they needed for the juice ? Thinking of putting them in my blender .

Blending them would work great Bianca.

  3. What does “3 of the onions” mean? I see 2 green onions listed in the ingredients…

    1. It’s 3 total, you use 2 in the recipe and 1 for topping 🙂

  4. Can I double this? For instance, if I have 16 ounces of pasta, would I add another two cups of chicken broth and 1/2 extra of milk?

Made this last night, This was pretty good. I didn’t use all the cheese called for because my one son is not a fan of really cheesy stuff, and turns out my other son didn’t like the cheese in it at all. My husband foiled my dinner plans by eating some of the smoked sausage for lunch, so i added in a diced up chicken breast to make up for the difference. I also used yellow onions instead of the green onions. I would definitely make again, maybe leave the cheese out, the sauce was very good on its own without it.

  6. Making this for dinner tonight. My pasta box is a 16 oz. Will double the chicken broth and milk. Fingers crossed 🤞😊

  7. When you add the pasta is it already cooked? Or does it need to be raw?

    1. It is NOT cooked yet when you add it in.

Love this recipe! I was craving something from a restaurant the first day I made this and it was so delicious and easy it felt pretty much the same. I’ve also tried it with Italian sausage and mozzarella and it is super good with those changes as well. Thanks for sharing

Great recipe and really versatile, sometimes I’ll add other veggies in with it, and I use whatever sausage and pasta i have in the pantry to keep my son from getting sick of the “same” thing. Thank you for all your great and simple recipes!!
