- 1 loaf Italian bread or your choice
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup cup cream or half & half
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar mix
Cut the bread into 1-2 inch thick slices, if your bread is big (wide) cut it down the middle as well.
Layer bread into the bottom of a buttered casserole dish.
Melt the butter in a microwave safe dish, drizzle half over the first layer of bread. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon sugar mixture. Layer the remaining bread slices.
Beat the egg and cream together, pour over the bread. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar. Cover with foil and refrigerate over night.
The next day, Bake on 350, covered, for 30 minutes. Remove cover, bake additional 6-8 minutes.
French toast should be crunchy on the edges, creamy in the middle but no runny egg should be present.
Spoon and serve with syrup or whipped cream and berries!
