For the cake:
- 1 box white cake mix
- 3.4 oz package white chocolate pudding mix, 2 tablespoons reserved for whipped cream topping
- 1 ¼ cups water
- ½ cups vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 ¼ teaspoon red gel food color
- 1 teaspoon blue gel food color
For the topping:
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 Tablespoons of reserved white chocolate pudding mix
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional)
For the cake:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add the cake mix, pudding mix (minus two tablespoons reserved for later), water, oil, and eggs. Beat with a hand mixture for a few minutes until smooth.
Divide evenly among 3 bowl, about 1 1/3 cups each. Add red food color to one bowl, and blue food color to another bowl. Stir well to thoroughly mix color in.
Pour and spread blue batter to prepared pan.
Carefully pour the white batter over the blue layer, moving the bowl all around to coat evenly. Gingerly spread white batter to areas that need to be covered, trying not to swirl the layers.
Repeat with the red layer.
Bake for 33-38 minutes and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
