This is the perfect meal to make ahead of time since the brisket is marinaded for up to 24 hours prior to slow cooking through the day, making it super tender by the time dinner rolls around!

How to make Crockpot BBQ Brisket

  1. Mix the rub ingredients together. Using a fork, pierce the brisket and then rub the spices onto the brisket. Allow it to sit in the refrigerator for 1 hour up to 24 hours. This tenderizes the meat so the longer the better, but will still work great if you don’t have the time.   3. Then place your brisket on top and cook on low for 7-9 hours. Time will depend on the size of your brisket. I checked my 3lb brisket at 7 hours and it was at the recommended internal temp of 180 degrees.brisket placed in crockpot
  4. Remove the brisket and let it rest for 10-15 minutes on a tray. Take the liquid from the crock pot and pour it into a sauce pan and bring to a simmer on medium-high heat. Cook till it is a syrupy consistency. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  5. Heat your grill to medium-high heat and spray your grill. Place the brisket down to get good grill marks. Then after a few minutes flip so the fatty side is down. BBQ Brisket on parchment paper with a small up of bbq sauce
  6. If you are basting the brisket while on the grill, baste one side and allow it to cook for 5 minutes additional minutes. Baste again and once that is caramelized, it is done. Or you can remove the brisket from the grill and add the BBQ as serving.

HOW SHOULD I STORE CROCKPOT BBQ BRISKET?

When ready to reheat, add it to the oven at 350℉ for about 20 minutes with any leftover sauce. CAN I MAKE CROCKPOT BBQ BRISKET AHEAD OF TIME?

  • Yes, you can! Simply slow cook the brisket as directed without adding to the grill. Transfer the brisket with the sauce to an airtight container to store for up to 2-3 days.
  • When you intend serving, reduce the sauce in a saucepan while you grill both sides of the brisket. Then transfer the brisket with the sauce to an oven dish, covered in aluminium foil, and set to heat through at 350℉ for 20 minutes.
  • Apart from this, the brisket needs to be marinated for up to 24 hours prior to cooking for optimal flavor and tender texture so this recipe naturally lends itself to being made ahead of time!

TIPS FOR MAKING CROCKPOT BBQ BRISKET

For Dry Rub

  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne optional

For BBQ Sauce

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne (optional
