- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
In a medium saucepan, combine blackberries and sugar.
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the berries release their juices and the sugar dissolves, about 5–6 minutes.
Use a potato masher or the back of a spoon to mash the berries to your desired consistency.
Add lemon juice and continue to simmer the jam for 15–18 minutes, stirring often, until thickened and glossy. It should coat the back of a spoon and leave a clear trail when you drag a spoon through the bottom of the pan.
Remove from heat and let the jam cool. It will thicken further as it cools. Transfer to a clean glass jar or container and refrigerate.
