Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups pasta sauce
  • 5 sub rolls
  • 1-½ cup of shredded mozzarella
  • chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, and seasonings in a large bowl. I find it is easiest to just use your hands.
  • Using a cookie scoop, fill the scoop with the meatball filling and then use your hands to round them out. Place on a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake at 350 for 20 minutes till they are cooked through.
  • In a large skillet pour pasta sauce in and heat through. Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the sauce and coat each meatball.
  • Then in a baking dish, line your sub rolls and fill with 3-5 meatballs (depending on size) and cover with shredded mozzarella.
  • Place on the broiler for 2-3 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly, but be careful and watch it so your cheese does not burn. Top with fresh chopped parsley.

Notes

Depending on how big your baking dish is and which rolls you use, this recipe is able to make 5-7 subs.
