- 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 egg beaten
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cooking apples peeled and diced
- ¼ cup walnuts chopped
Topping
- ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan and set aside. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together the beaten egg, milk, and vanilla.
Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir just enough to combine.
Fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts.
Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the batter.
Bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
