Loaded Crack Dip Recipe

Loaded Crack Dip - Family Fresh Meals

Crack dip? What the heck is that?

The name sounded weird to me too when I first heard it. It turns out, crack dip is a creamy ranch dip loaded with sour cream, bacon, green onions, and cheese. I don’t know if it’s actually called that because it’s totally addictive – but it is.

The other thing that will get you hooked on crack dip is how easy it is to make. If you have some cooked bacon ready to go, you can mix up a batch in less than five minutes. Then you just give it a couple of hours to chill in the fridge, while you chill out and get ready for the party.

If you have to cook the bacon first, well, that adds a little more time. But do not, repeat not, attempt to use fake “bacon bits” instead. It honestly is NOT the same at all. Real bacon makes all the difference.

Serve this Loaded Crack Dip at your next party with either crackers or pretzels, and watch your guests keep coming back for more.

My mom has made this for years but ours is a little different. We actually just do a container of sour cream, a bag of shredded Colby jack cheese, a bag of bacon bits and a packet of dry ranch mix. (NOT the ranch dip mix) -FYI: using that turns it green and it has a funky taste!

And we eat ours with scooped Fritos. Growing up my friends used to always request this dip for me to bring to parties and now all my friends in college are just as hooked!

  2. I live in Australia what this recipe calls for a pkt of ranch dressing we cant get it here what could I use instead thanks

  3. How many days ahead can I make this for graduation party?

Is there a vegetarian version? My daughters are vegetarians, and this dip is so good.

    1. You can make this vegetarian by leaving out the bacon Cathy. It will still taste very yummy 🙂

  5. How much of this Dip is considered 1 serving? Some of us need to pay close attention to fat, sodium, etc. for health reasons. Sounds exceptionally delicious!

    1. This serves 12, so that should equate to about 2 heaping tablespoons. To be exact, you could also divide the dip into 12 equal parts.
