Air Fryer Salmon with Dill Butter Sauce

I’m having so much fun with my new air fryer! Most people think these things are just for cooking low-fat versions of fried foods – and it’s true, they can make fabulously crisp French fries with practically zero fat (as I discovered when I cooked some up to go with my Air Fryer Cheeseburgers).

But they’re also great for cooking all the things you would normally make on the grill. In fact, in some ways they’re even better than the grill, because they can heat the food evenly from all directions. You never have to worry about one part getting dry and overdone while the rest is still raw – it’s just perfectly done all around.cooked air fryer salmon in air fryer basket

Here’s a great example: Air Fryer Salmon with Dill and Butter Sauce. This tender fish can be tricky to cook just right. When I do it in the oven, I often rely on foil packets to keep it nice and moist. But in the air fryer, there’s no need for that. Just spray the fryer basket lightly with oil, pop in the seasoned fish, and cook it to your desired doneness. All it needs is a squeeze of lemon to make it perfect.

How long should I cook the salmon?

  • Depends on how done you like it. After 7 minutes at 400°F, it will be just a little red in the center. After 9 minutes, it will be cooked through but soft. And after 11 minutes, it will be firm and flaky all the way through. So it’s easy to get the fish done exactly to your taste.

If I don’t have fresh dill for the sauce, can I use dried dill?

  • Fresh dill really is better if you can get it. But if all you have is dried, use one-third as much (so half a teaspoon) and mix it into the melted butter before brushing it on the fish.

What side dishes are good with this salmon?

  • Salmon goes great with asparagus or green beans. A salad of mixed baby greens also makes a good veggie side dish. And for a starch, try baked potatoes, rice, or maybe some of my quick Parmesan Garlic Knots.

  • The internal cooking temperature for salmon is 145 degrees and it took the entire 11 minutes for my filets to reach that temperature but it was well done.

This was really tasty. I put the dill in the melted butter, poured it over the fish then salt and peppered. Added lemon slices on top and airfryed. Hubby is not a fish person but he ate it all. Thats a win for me. Thank you.
