Can I use frozen gnocchi?

Yes! Frozen gnocchi works well in this recipe. Just cook it according to the package directions before adding it to the beef mixture. There’s usually no need to thaw it first, but check the package instructions.

Can I substitute the ground beef?

Absolutely! Ground turkey or ground chicken can be used instead. The flavor will be a little lighter, so using beef broth in the sauce can help add more savory flavor.

Can I add other vegetables?

Yes! Corn, green beans, or a frozen mixed vegetable blend can work in this dish. Just make sure any additional vegetables are cooked until tender before adding the gnocchi.

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

Refrigerator: Allow leftovers to cool before transferring them to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 4 days.
Reheating: Warm leftovers in a skillet over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. Add a splash of beef broth or water if the sauce has thickened. You can also reheat individual servings in the microwave.
Freezing:For the best texture, freeze just the cooked beef and vegetable mixture for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, reheat thoroughly, and prepare fresh gnocchi to stir in before serving.
Cut the carrots into small pieces. This helps them soften during the short cooking time.
Don’t overcook the gnocchi. Cook just until tender according to the package instructions. They’ll cook a little more when added to the skillet.
