- 2 lb. Ground Beef 80% lean /20% fat
- 2 large onions sliced into ¼"-½"
- 3 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 4 Slices American Cheese
- Pinch Sugar
- Burger Sauce optional
Add oil to cast iron skillet or griddle.
Over medium-heat, sprinkle sugar over whole sliced onions and place into the skillet and cook until each side has barely caramelized.
Remove onion rings from skillet and place on cutting board to rest.
Season hamburger with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
While onions are resting add hamburger to skillet. Firmly press hamburger patties down, so they become thin patties.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes on the first side. Flip the patties and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Place sliced cheese on top of hamburger patties and then stack one on top of the other.
Place double patties on top of the first whole onion ring and then top with the next whole onion ring.
Serve with sauce.
