Divide the ground beef into equal portions and use a flat surface, like the bottom of a plate, to press them into thin, even patties. You can also use a burger press if you have one.
Yes, you can customize your Flying Dutchman with any toppings or sauces you like, such as lettuce, tomato, special sauce, or avocado.

Caramelize Onions Just Right:
- Medium Heat is Key: Cook the onions over medium heat to achieve a nice golden brown color. This ensures they caramelize perfectly without burning.
- Patience Pays Off: Don’t rush the process. Caramelizing onions to perfection can take time, but it’s worth the wait for that sweet, rich flavor that complements the beef patties.
Extra Toppings & Sauce:
- Customize Your Burger: While the classic Flying Dutchman is delicious on its own, feel free to add extra toppings like pickle relish, mushrooms, or yellow mustard to suit your taste buds.
- We love to use our Come Back Burger Sauce
This burger press is perfect for making your Flying Dutchmen patties.

In the nutrition info for the whole recipe or for each of the two burgers? It doesn’t say and obviously it makes a big difference. One serving with 1060mg of sodium is crazy high but if it’s really 530mg instead, that’s ok.
Thanks!
The info is for each made burger…. however, that is for 2 Double Burgers (each serving is making a double stack). So you could make them single burgers and reduce the sodium.
