Philly Cheesesteak Squares

These Philly Cheesesteak Squares take all the classic cheesesteak flavors you love and wrap them up in buttery, golden crescent roll dough.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • ½ cup finely diced green bell pepper
  • 1 medium yellow onion finely diced
  • 16 oz Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • ½ cup mayo
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350F degrees and spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray. Warm tablespoon of butter in a large pan over medium high heat and add the diced peppers and onions. Saute for several minutes until softened and set aside.

  • Unroll one container of crescent rolls and press into the bottom of your baking dish, coming up the sides of the pan about ½ inch. (You can also roll out the crescent dough on a lightly floured surface with a rolling pin).

  • Mix together the mayo, garlic, mustard, salt and pepper and spread evenly onto the crescent dough.

  • Add 6 slices of provolone cheese on top.

  • Evenly layer the sliced deli roast beef onto the cheese.

  • Add the sauteed pepper and onions on top of the roast beef.

  • Place the remaining 6 slices of cheese onto the top.

  • Unroll the remaining crescent dough and roll out with a rolling pin to fit over the top of the fillings. Pinch any open seams closed.

  • Mix the beaten egg and parmesan together in a small bowl and brush over the top of the crescent dough.

  • Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the top of the dough is cooked through and a golden brown.

  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving, enjoy!
