I am sure many of you have had the following dinner dilemma…

What do you do if you’ve got a meat-lover in your family and you want to convince him – it’s usually a him – to eat some veggies?

Simple: you serve him a salad topped with steak. Particularly if the steak is seasoned with salt, pepper, mustard, and garlic, and then grilled over a hot flame.

Once it comes off the grill, you let it rest for a few minutes while you arrange some greens, red onion, and crumbled bacon on a platter. Then you slice that steak in long strips, arrange it on top, and drizzle it with your favorite dressing.

With all that juicy, delicious steak on top, the carnivore in your life won’t even notice he’s eating salad.

MUSTARD GLAZED GRILLED STEAK AND SALAD

Ingredients:

1 lb of your favorite grilling steak
1/2 Tablespoon Seasoned Salt
2 Tablespoon Oil
1 Tablespoon Mustard (yellow or Dijon)
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
Pepper as desired
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
5 slices of bacon, cooked and diced
6-8 Cups Salad/Lettuce
¼ Red onion, sliced
1/2 cup favorite vinaigrette or creamy dressing

Directions

1. Preheat grill to hight heat. Season steak with seasoned salt. In a bowl, combine oil, pepper, mustard, soy sauce and garlic. Mix well.

2. With a brush, brush one side of the steak with the mustard marinade.

3. Place on hot grill and cover with the lid. It may flare up, but the flames will die down quickly.

4. Cook approximately 4 – 5 minutes. Flip the steak and grill another 4 – 5 minutes.

5. Remove the steak and let it rest 5 minutes on a cutting board. Meanwhile, in a large shallow platter, place the lettuce/salad greens and red onion. Slice the steak against the grain, in long diagonal slices. Arrange the pieces on the platter, drizzle with dressing and enjoy!
