Chocolate Boozy Bunnies

Chocolate Boozy Bunnies - Family Fresh Meals

For a lot of parents, Easter is all about the kids. They get to do all the fun stuff, like hunting for eggs and eating the candy inside, while we do all the cooking and cleaning.

Well, that’s just no fair. It’s time to give moms and dads their share of the fun with a special Easter treat that’s just for grownups. A special, boozy Easter treat.

All you have to do is take that classic Easter candy, the chocolate bunny, and give it a yummy surprise filling of liqueur and coffee. Then you can sip the filling through a straw, while nibbling your way down the chocolate container at the same time.

The nice thing about these is that they’re easy to customize to fit your tastes. For example, for the bunnies you see here, I used white chocolate with Bailey’s Almande. But you could just as easily pair, say, milk chocolate with raspberry Chambord, or dark chocolate with crème de menthe. The tasty chocolate-liqueur possibilities are endless.

Serve up a selection of these Chocolate Boozy Bunnies at your Easter get-together, and watch it become just as much fun for the adults as it is for the kids.

NOTE: Different brands and sizes of bunnies will hold different amounts, simply plan to adjust amounts as needed. You will also find that brands will have different thicknesses for the walls so you may need to work a little harder to drill in-or may be too thin to make ahead of time and let sit overnight. Just a couple things to think about when selecting your bunnies.

1 small chocolate bunny of your choice, if having a party, you may want to offer a few different types of chocolate bunnies, we used white chocolate.
20 ml of your preferred liquor, I used Baileys Almande
. Top the rest off with cold coffee (flavored to your preference).
Paper straws, cut to size.
Tiny funnel or medicine dispenser

Directions:
1. Chill the bunnies in the fridge for about 30 minutes before starting to work with them.
Use a sharp knife to slowly twist and basically drill a hole in the top/back side of the bunny. Try to select a spot that is high enough up that a straw can be used and that it will be less likely to leak out. Drilling in at a slight angle will help with this.Chocolate Boozy Bunnies - Making a hole in the side of chocolate bunny with small knife- Family Fresh Meals

2. You can add the coffee and liquor separately or mix them ahead of time and add everything together. I like to use a small medicine dispenser.

3. If ready to serve you can set them on trays and add the straws. Or you can make these ahead of time and keep them chilled overnight.
