How to Make Instant Pot Sausage Gravy - Family Fresh Meals

There’s something really cozy and satisfying about biscuits with sausage gravy. Tucking into a plate of hot biscuits, drenched in creamy gravy, loaded with chunks of savory breakfast sausage, makes you feel like you’re all set for a day of mowing and baling hay on the farm – even if your real job is sitting at a desk all day.

I already have a recipe for Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Casserole, which is great for feeding a big crowd. But if you want to serve biscuits and gravy for an everyday breakfast, there’s no need to take all that time. With the Instant Pot, you can whip up a batch of sausage gravy in around 15 minutes.

There’s no need for a separate pan, either. You can brown the sausage right in the pot, then stir in the rest of the ingredients and cook it up to a thick, creamy perfection.

This tastes best with my Easy Homemade Biscuits, fresh out of the oven. But if you don’t have time to bake a fresh batch, it’s almost as good with leftover biscuits that are just warmed up for a few minutes in the oven. The cozy magic of sausage gravy works either way.

  1. Hi! Does this have to be whole milk? Will 2% work?

    Thank you!

    1. 2% will work, it just won’t be as creamy 🙂

      1. This is a great recipe but too salty for me. I’d exclude the extra 1tsp of salt for my next batch. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your recipe!. I found it very tasty but for my family, it was too salty. Planning on leaving the salt out and switching to low sodium broth. My color was darker (which didn’t bother me) but could you maybe tell me why?

  3. Hi! Looks yummy! Can I double this and If so how would the instructions change?
