Can anything else be used instead of milk products. I need to make it Kosher. Thank you.
Corey says
Can you get your hands on some almond milk powder?
Cara says
I have been looking for a good recipe to make my own as we go through so much of it! I wondered about the powdered buttermilk though. If I normally make mine with buttermilk ( instead of regular milk) would I omit that and use something else or put in less? Or just keep it all the same.
Corey says
I would try the recipe as is and see how it tastes to you. If you would like more of a buttermilk taste, then use that instead of the regular milk when making the actual dressing. I hope that helps 🙂
Vick says
where do you buy dried buttermilk please and thank you 🙂
Corey says
Vick, I have found mind at my local grocery store. If you can’t find it there, you can order some through Amazon 🙂
Ellen says
Have you ever used this in place of a dry packet of ranch dip in a recipe? Wondering how it would taste in replacement of. I have a good pork chop recipe for the crockpot that calls for a packet of dry ranch.
Corey says
Yes I have! You would use equal parts….so about 3 Tablespoons 🙂
Estella says
Hi Corey,
I just found your DIY Ranch recipe earlier this week. I reduced the pepper just a bit, but kept everything else the same. I’ll put the full pepper amount if I make it for all grown-ups. The kids use ranch as a “dip” and the pepper was a little much for them. But…Wow! This recipe is amazing!!! I have searched and searched and experimented and experimented and had yet to find/come up with a true Ranch Packet replacement recipe. This recipe nailed the correct portions of spices. Thank you, thank you for posting this! I visit your website often and have always found your recipes very good. I haven’t ever posted on your site, but I just had to after this treasure of a recipe!
Corey says
Yay Estella! I am so happy you loved this recipe 🙂 It’s one of my favorites too! Thanks for taking the time to stop by to share!
Tiffany says
I’m not a fan of buttermilk ranch. Could I use powdered milk in place of the powdered buttermilk?
Corey says
I have never done that before Tiffany. It might work. If you try it… would you let us known how it turns out?
Lorie W. says
Just made this with 1/2 olive oil mayo and 1/2 sour cream, it is fantastic!
Debbie Simmons says
Thank you so much for this. My disabled son loves Ranch but store bought has too much stuff in it. This is perfect.
Corey says
So happy you love the recipe Debbie!
Shirley Fee says
I had to let you know that I have tried MANY recipes for ranch dressing and while they are okay, this was by far the BEST that I have tried. I will use this one from now on. Thank you!!!
Corey says
SO happy you love the recipe Shirley!
Jeanine says
Thank you for this recipe! I love not having to use the store-bought mixes with additives in them. I used The Saco Pantry cultured Buttermilk blend. That’s all my store had. It says to refrigerate it after opening. So will I need to refrigerate the mix, or do you think the salt will preserve it?
Corey says
Since what you used is cultured, I think it would be best to keep it refrigerated.
