I have a secret message for you…
How to make fruit leather fortune cookies
As a kid, the best part of getting Chinese food was the fortune cookie. What other food has a secret message waiting for you inside? I saw this cute idea on SheKnows earlier this year and couldn’t wait to make them for my girls’ lunchbox. How excited would your kiddos be to get a special message in a fruity fortune cookie?

- Here is what you need to make this fun treats:
- Fruit leather
- About a 2 inch circle cutter. (I used a small jar I had.)
- parchment paper for notes (this will prevent the note sticking to the cookie)
- Lay fruit leather out on a cutting board.
- Cut 2 circles per fortune cookie.
- Place your special message written on parchment paper on top of the lower half of the circle.
- Fold top over and pinch together the edges to form a fortune cookie.

Corey, this is such an adorable idea. I bet kids really love this!
I have a friend who likes to leave little notes in her kids’ lunch boxes. Sometimes they are reminders of evening activities, sometimes it is congratulating them on an achievement, and sometimes it is just a cute way to say “I love you”.
I am going to be passing this idea along to her. I think that it is something that she will definitely try.
If there were only a way to get them inside carrots then maybe she will not have to try to talk them into eating more of them.

Thanks Elle 🙂

Isn’t the hard part getting a healthy fruit leather? You seem to leave out where you got it or how you made it.

Where do you get fruit leather that is wide enough for the 2 inch circle? Thanks!
Corey says
A fruit roll-up style fruit leather will be wide enough 🙂
