Why don’t I make them all the time? Well, the thought of getting a big old pot of water boiling, and then timing the boiling, flame on, flame off,  lid on , lid off…. UGH!

Half the time I end up timing something wrong, and end up with over cooked, hard to peel eggs. OMG…. peeling hard boiled eggs is the pits!So when I kept seeing the idea on Pinterest, of hard boiling eggs in the oven, I HAD to give it a try.

Ok people. This is a game changer. Eggs go in the oven for 30 minutes, then in a bowl of ice water to cool. That’s IT! You wanna know the BEST part? The peel practically slides off in one piece. I kid you not!

PLEASE  DO A TEST RUN with a couple eggs until you figure out the correct cooking temp for your oven.

How to Make PERFECT Hard Boiled Eggs in the Oven

  1. Preheat your  oven to 325 degrees F. If you know your oven runs cooler, try 350 temp. Place eggs in a muffin tin to prevent them from rolling around. Cook for 30 minutes.How to hard boil perfect eggs in the oven - Eggs in muffing tin pan

Ok people. This is a game changer. Let me show you how to make perfect hard boiled eggs EVERY time using your oven. Easy peel hard boiled eggs every time!

Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 31 minutes

  • Dozen eggs

  • Preheat your oven to 325. Some of the posts I found said between 325-350. My eggs turned out perfect at 325. If you know your oven runs cooler, try out a higher temp. Otherwise, go for the 325.
  • Place eggs in a muffin tin to prevent them from rolling around.
  • Cook for 30 minutes.
  • After the 30 minutes, remove eggs from the oven and place in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.I left them in there for about 10 minutes.

    Perfect for eggs going to be just eaten. The inside was perfectly cooked, peeled easily. Not so perfect for coloring of eggs. They had brown spots on the shell that could not be washed off. There were brown spots also on the egg itself, so not such a good option for deviled eggs or picky kids. I did not try any of the suggested ideas, this was with a muffin pan.

    Okee…just tried this. I REALLY recommend that people follow the tip of trying 2-3 ‘tester’ eggs like she advises….don’t toss in an entire dozen and then complain that it didn’t turn out right. My eggs are perfectly cooked after 30 minutes at 350 (electric oven). I rinsed them off first, then put them in muffin pans with paper liners. Some had a brown spot, but they were tiny and not a big deal, especially since most are bound for potato salad. Pinch the brown spot off or, in the case of deviled eggs, just put the brown spot on the half of the egg on the bottom; most people don’t pick up and closely examine a deviled egg before eating it. Besides, I’d much rather risk a super tiny brown speck and having a perfectly cooked egg with no chance of green on the yolk like you sometimes get boiling when you forget and leave them on the stove too long XD They peeled really easy, just don’t be like me and leave them more than 10 minutes in the ice water. The eggs left too long in the cold water were harder to peel. Thanks for the great technique <3

    I too had scorch marks. But I found a silicon muffin pan at the thrift shop. Giving that a shot. I think it might be safer than using flammable insulators.

  5. Just tried this with two eggs put straight on the rack since I didn’t have a muffin tin. One cracked and one didn’t. Do you get cracked ones often? Do I need to set the eggs out beforehand to warm then up a bit before putting in the oven?
