Crockpot Steel Cut Oats

Slow Cooker and a tub of steel cut oats

As a busy momma of 2, I know mornings can be super hectic. Lets simplify tomorrow morning and have your crockpot cook breakfast for you all night!  Wake up to a warm, healthy bowl of breakfast ready to rock!

These Crockpot Steel Cut Oats are one of my favorite go to breakfasts. At first my kiddos weren’t too excited about having oatmeal for breakfast, but after I introduced them to a fun filled oatmeal breakfast bar…they were singing a different tune.

The night before when you are preparing your Crockpot Steel Cut Oats (and when I say prepare..I mean dump oats and water into the crockpot) , fill up a few bowls of yummy toppings.

My girls love brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon/sugar, diced apples, and yogurt covered raisins.  Now when you wake up in the morning, stroll downstairs to a beautiful oatmeal bar all ready to go!

NOTE: I used a small 3 qt crockpot for this recipe. If you are using a larger pot, your oats may cook faster. Adjust time, OR double the recipe for larger crockpots. You can always refrigerate leftovers for the next couple of days 🙂

Remember, this is the a bare oatmeal recipe, so it won’t have much taste alone.  So I highly recommend using some of those optional oatmeal toppings!

  1. add raisins to the crockpot with water and oats, yum.

    1. Great idea Stacy! My one daughter isn’t a fan of raisins though, so that’s why I like to make a plain batch and do an oatmeal bar. That way everyone is happy 🙂

  2. This is so incredibly to use a crock pot! I prefer to set up things the next before, so it’s one less thing to worry about in the morning. I am absolutely going to use this idea 🙂

  3. 5 stars
I love this. I’m determined not to lose how healthy we eat in the summer as I return to school. This is my third Sunday making a big batch of this. Thank you!
