What will I need to complete this recipe?

  • White cake mix: Substitute the cake mix of your choice, such as yellow, chocolate or strawberry.
  • Milk: Half and half or heavy cream will also work, though it may change the texture. You can also use water, in a pinch, however it will change the flavor and texture slightly.
  • Sprinkles: I find that Jimmies sprinkles work best in this recipe. You can use any sprinkles you’d like however be sure that you like the taste of the sprinkles that you choose first. Also, keep in mind that nonpareils tend to bleed more than other sprinkles.

How should I store my Air Fryer Funfetti Mug Cake?

I recommend enjoying this cake fresh however it can be covered and stored at room temperature for a day or in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. It can be eaten cold or reheated in the microwave or air fryer for a few minutes.

How do I know when my Air Fryer Funfetti Mug Cake is cooked through?

It can be tricky to know if your cake is cooked all the way through so here are a couple tips to help you tell.

It bounces back when gently pressed in the middle. Tap it carefully and firmly with a finger and look to see if it bounces back. If it does, it is likely cooked through.

A toothpick or knife inserted in the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs. If it comes out with any type of batter or smear on it, it likely needs more time to finish cooking.

A digital thermometer should read at least 200 degrees Fahrenheit at the thickest part. This is my favorite way of ensuring that my cake is baked through as it is always easy and clear.
