Big Mac Tater Tot Casserole
Tired of the same dinner rut and craving something with serious comfort vibes? This Big Mac Tater Tot Casserole is the perfect recipe to bring some fun flavors to the table.

It’s got everything you love about a classic Big Mac, with crispy tater tots on top and a savory, cheesy beef mixture underneath. Whether you’re feeding the whole family on a busy weeknight or need an easy dinner idea for game day, this is a guaranteed family favorite. And the best part? It’s an easy recipe you’ll want to add to your list of go-to, easy meals.
Assemble the casserole up to a day in advance. Add 5-7 minutes to the bake time if coming from the fridge.
Feel free to add more toppings to this if you want to bulk up on nutrition. You can add tomatoes, chopped mushrooms or caramelized onions for deeper flavor.
If you prefer to use a different cheese variety, you can swap to a pepper jack or even layer American cheese slices over the beef.
I used 85% lean ground beef for this recipe. You can choose to use a leaner variety or swap the beef for turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter option.

Ingredients Notes
- Ground Beef – Lean ground beef makes this dish hearty, juicy, and packed with protein. For a leaner option, you can substitute ground chicken or turkey.
- White Onion – Adds savory depth and a hint of sweetness to the beef mixture.
- Garlic Powder – An easy way to infuse maximum flavor without chopping garlic.
- Pickles – Adds a tangy crunch.
- Cheddar Cheese – When the cheese melts, it creates a gooey, melty cheese layer that’s irresistible.
- Tater Tots – Crispy, golden brown potatoes on top give this casserole the perfect texture contrast.
- Lettuce – Shredded lettuce adds a fresh crunch when sprinkled over the top before serving.
- Homemade Big Mac Sauce – This sauce is the star: creamy, tangy, and full of flavor thanks to mayo, ketchup, mustard, and relish.
