Chocolate Wishbones

Chocolate Wishbones on a plate

Thanksgiving dinner should be a time for families to come together. But sadly, there’s one part of the meal that often divides the family instead of uniting it. The problem starts when the wishbone gets extracted from the turkey, and all the kids – and maybe some of the grownups too – start fighting over who gets to break it.

So how can you avoid the squabbles? After all, there’s only one wishbone, and only two people can split it. The best solution would be to have a turkey with a whole bunch of wishbones, but so far, no one has managed to breed one.

Until they do, I have a solution that’s almost as good: make your own wishbones. In fact, my wishbones are even better than the real thing, because they’re made out of white chocolate. So after breaking the wishbone, you can eat it! No matter who gets the biggest piece, everyone’s a winner!

Chocolate Wishbones in a bowl

Chocolate Wishbones are pretty simple to make. You just melt some white chocolate, put it in a sandwich baggie, and cut a hole in one corner of the baggie so you can drizzle the chocolate out. Then you squeeze out the wishbone shapes onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, and pop them in the fridge to harden. It only takes a few minutes.

Make up a bunch of these ahead of time, and you won’t have to worry about this bone of contention (ha ha) ruining your holiday harmony.
