DIY Pumpkin Pie Spice Seasoning
How to make DIY Pumpkin Pie Spice Seasoning
There are lots of things I love about autumn. The crisp, cool weather, the colorful leaves, the Halloween costumes. But one of my very favorite things about fall is the return of the pumpkin spice latte. I look forward to this all year long, and mourn it when it disappears in the winter.
And it’s not just lattes! Right now, you can find practically anything in a pumpkin spice variety. Pumpkin spice tortilla chips! Pumpkin spice soap! Pumpkin spice hard seltzer (I’m serious, this is a thing).
Of course, these pumpkin-spiced goodies often come with a high price tag. But that’s no problem, because it’s super easy to whip up your own pumpkin spice seasoning at home and add it to any recipe you like. Just take all the spices you’d use in a pumpkin pie – cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and cloves – and mix them together.
Adding a dash of this Pumpkin Pie Spice Seasoning to anything magically makes it taste like fall. Try it in your morning coffee, your oatmeal, your pancake batter. Sprinkle it on sliced apples or pears or roasted pumpkin seeds. You can even use it in savory dishes, like roast chicken or chili. It works anywhere you want a touch of fall flavor – which, for me, is anywhere at all.
