Easy Flag Fruit Dessert
Healthy Summer Dessert!
Ever notice how the patriotic holidays all come together? You get Memorial Day at the end of May, then Flag Day in mid-June, and then the Glorious Fourth at the beginning of July. Maybe it’s because the weather is just so nice this time of year, it seems like we need plenty of occasions for cookouts.
Or, on the other hand, maybe it’s because summertime means summer fruits: juicy red strawberries, ripe raspberries, blushing cherries, and plump blueberries. All that red and blue bounty just naturally suggests the idea of an American flag. But…how do you make the white stripes?

Well, you could arrange the fruit on a white cake or make it into a parfait, but I’ve got an idea that’s way easier. All you need is the fresh fruit, a big tray, and some little pretzels covered in yogurt or white chocolate. Just spread those out in rows, alternating with the red berries, and group all the blueberries together in the corner. And presto: a light, easy, festive dessert that will be the hit of any patriotic party.
Easy Flag Fruit Dessert
- 5-6 cups of red fresh fruit. (I used cherries, strawberries and raspberries)
- 2 cups of blueberries
- 3 cups of yogurt or white chocolate covered pretzels
Directions:
- Wash fresh fruit and dry. Lay out fruit and pretzels to represent the flag stripes, and place a small bowl of blueberries on the top left.
- And the great thing about having all those holidays in a row is, you get three chances to show it off.
