4th of July Fireworks Cupcakes
You are going to love this 4th of July Dessert!
There are two things the Glorious Fourth just wouldn’t be complete without. First, you have to have a cookout, with all your friends and family gathered around on the deck to enjoy the long summer evening with a delicious outdoor meal. And then, when it finally gets dark, you have to wrap the day up with fireworks.
So what could be more perfect than putting these two holiday traditions together?
Last year, I took my first crack at a firework-themed treat with this Jello Firecracker Dessert. This year, I decided to take the idea even further, with a dessert that really has the look and feel of fireworks.

This dessert starts off nice and simple, with some white-frosted cupcakes topped with red and blue sprinkles. Then comes the fun part: building a little “firework” to top each cupcake. You use a holiday-themed straw for the handle, and put three Life Savers on the end – one each in red, white, and blue.
But the real kicker is the tip of the firework – a Hershey Kiss dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with red and blue Pop Rocks. With that on the end, the dessert doesn’t just look like a firework – it also feels like fireworks going off in your mouth.
Who needs sparklers, when you’ve got fireworks you can eat?

Directions
- Frost the cupcakes with frosting and top with a variety of sprinkles.
- Melt the chocolate discs per package directions and dip each Hershey, set them on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle some blue and red pop rocks on each kiss. Let dry.
- Cut each straw to desired length for your cupcakes. Now, take a red, blue, and white Lifesaver and place onto a straw at one end. Put a dab of melted chocolate onto the blue Lifesaver and stick the kiss on top so it resembles a firework pointing in the air.
- Push a firework down into each cupcake with the kiss pointing up.
