Recipe Tips

  • Let’s talk cleaning fruit– If you are creating any kind of charcuterie board that will have fruit, I highly recommend soaking fruit in white vinegar and water for at least 20 minutes. Rinse fruit with cold water and pat dry before adding to tray.
  • You can use any type of salsa for this board, I purchased a mango salsa since it tied in with the other fruit on the board.
  • Create a design in the Brie cheese wheel, with a sharp knife or cookie cutter. Carve a little out and you can fill it with raspberry jam to create a beautiful cheese wheel.close up of brie cheese wheel on 4th of July Meat and Cheese Charcuterie Tray
  • Create small kabobs with your favorite red, white, and blue food. I used a white cheddar cube, cherry tomato, and a blueberry.
  • To make pepperoni and salami flowers– Use a smaller glass or a wine glass to create flowers, place meat on the outside and fold down on the rim. Layer next slice of meat and make sure slices are overlapped. Repeat until full. This will take about 6-8 layers for a large flower. Flip glass over and place flower where you are wanting it on the board. Remove glass.
  • If you don’t have a large platter you don’t have to purchase one. You can easily use brown construction paper, and lay out on counter or table. You could also use a large baking sheet as well.
