A fun, festive way to display antipasto for your Christmas party.

An easy AND beautiful holiday appetizer
When I throw a Christmas party, I like to bring the holiday theme into everything. I don’t just decorate my house; I like to decorate the food, too, so that everything on the buffet table adds to the holiday vibe. So, for instance, I arrange my sausage bites and cheese cubes into a Christmas tree shape, or decorate my cheese ball as a snowman.
So, when I was casting around for a fun way to serve antipasto at a holiday party, I thought, “Hey, why not make a wreath?”

Doing this is actually quite easy. You just take a whole bunch of bite-sized nibbles — sliced deli meats, cherry tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts, mozzarella pearls, fresh basil cheese tortellini – and string them onto 4-inch skewers, shish-kabob style. With the white mozzarella, green basil leaves, and little red cherry tomatoes in the mix, these have kind of a holiday look and feel already, but are you going to stop there? Of course not!
So take your finished skewers and lay them neatly out on a round plate, radiating out from the center, to make a wreath shape. I like to put some rosemary sprigs around the plate before adding the skewers to enhance the look of evergreens.
Buon appetito, and Merry Christmas!
Just about anything that could be called antipasto will work as part of this wreath. Try chunks of sausage, pepperoncini peppers, anchovies, marinated mushrooms or chunks of eggplant, or other cheeses, such as provolone.
You don’t need a lot. The sprigs only really need to be showing around the edges of the plate, so you can just snip small pieces and tuck them in around the skewers.
Absolutely, as long as you keep it cold until the party.

- NOTE: To make this feel more like a wreath, I used a round salad plate and laid fresh rosemary around the plate and laid the skewers on top of rosemary.
