The Best Crockpot Beef Stew

Beef stew has to be one of my ultimate comfort foods, especially during the winter months. And what goes better with Sunday football than a big ole’ bowl of beef stew!

Now, this isn’t any old stew. This has been proclaimed as The Best Crockpot Beef Stew by my friends and family. So add this recipe to your menu next week and let the compliments roll in.

The Best Crockpot Beef Stew 

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, sliced
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 32 oz beef broth
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups baby carrots carrots
  • 4-5 small red potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 3 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 cups frozen peas
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  1. Combine beef, celery, carrots, red onion, potatoes, salt,  pepper, garlic, parsley, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and tomato paste in the crock pot. I used a 6 qt crockpot for this stew.  Cook on LOW for 10 hours or on HIGH for 6-7 hours.
  2. About 30 minutes before serving, mix the flour and the water together in a small dish and pour into the crockpot. Mix until well combined. This will add a nice thickness to the stew. Next add in your frozen peas and corn. Continue cooking covered for 30 minutes.

    wow!! You arent kidding when u say it is the BEST! So glad i found this recipe on Pinterest when looking for a beef stew recipe. Never made Stew in my crockpot before and this was amazing!!! I followed the recipe as it except i omitted the oregano as im not a huge fan. This will be a staple in my cookbook now. Thanks for sharing!

  3. This was super delicious but on the spicy side for me and my family. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think it was the pepper that caused this? Nothing else spicy really went in…thanks!

    1. Maybe the pepper or the Worcestershire sauce. Some people can find that to be a little spicy. But others don’t think so. That’s the only thing I could think of. You could try leaving out the pepper and using soy sauce instead of Worcestershire. I hope that helps 🙂

  4. I have everything I need except beef broth and I really want to make a big batch for the game at noon tomorrow. Not leaving time to get more groceries. Can I use beef boullion cubes do you think? This sounds delicious!!!!!!

    1. Yes, just use the equivalence of bouillon cubes and water.

    I made this yesterday morning, let it simmer and cook for a full ten hours. This recipe was perfect for a hint of rain Fall Sunday. I was exhausted coming back from the Pumpkin Patch and glad I had this cooking in my crock pot. My husband’s only complaint was the celery wasn’t diced! He loved it. My son ate it all(he doesn’t like onions or celery) and didn’t know they were in there! I paired it with Sister Schubert’s Dinner Yeast Rolls. A nice sweet roll that went well with the stew. I wanted to add mashed potatoes but was too hungry I forgot. My only thing I will change is the amount of Worcestershire sauce by halving it because it was too spicy for me. This recipe is a keeper! I found it on pinterest.
