The Best Crockpot Beef Stew

Beef stew has to be one of my ultimate comfort foods, especially during the winter months. And what goes better with Sunday football than a big ole’ bowl of beef stew!
Now, this isn’t any old stew. This has been proclaimed as The Best Crockpot Beef Stew by my friends and family. So add this recipe to your menu next week and let the compliments roll in.

The Best Crockpot Beef StewÂ
- 2 pounds beef stew meat, (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 celery ribs, sliced
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 32 oz beef broth
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups baby carrots carrots
- 4-5 small red potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 3 cups)
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 cups frozen peas
- 1 cup frozen corn
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup water
- Combine beef, celery, carrots, red onion, potatoes, salt, Â pepper, garlic, parsley, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and tomato paste in the crock pot. I used a 6 qt crockpot for this stew. Â Cook on LOW for 10 hours or on HIGH for 6-7 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, mix the flour and the water together in a small dish and pour into the crockpot. Mix until well combined. This will add a nice thickness to the stew. Next add in your frozen peas and corn. Continue cooking covered for 30 minutes.

The recipe is very good. There are only two of us so next time I would like to half the recipe. How long would I cook it on low?
I added broccoli and green beans, left out the peas and there really is no need for flour and water.. Stew thickens by itself at the end od the 6th hour. It was perfect.
I’ve been looking for a good stew recipe for years and I am grateful I found it with this one. In other stew recipes I had browned the meat first. This one didn’t do it, so I didn’t either. The meat was tender, the flavor was bold and my family loved it. Thank you for posting this!!!!

I took a chance and made this after some bad bad experiences with recipes out here. My fussy bf loved it and I did too and I admit I’m not a stew eater. My only concern was not being able to thicken it up. I admit to cutting back on the paste so maybe my fault. It’s a keeper Ty.

I happened upon this recipe and I’m SO glad this is the one I used to make my first batch of beef stew. My husband grew up with a lot of American home cooking and my mother-in-law is awesome in the kitchen. I grew up with more Asian cooking, so I’ve been trying to expand my culinary prowess by making dishes that he ate growing up. I made your stew yesterday and we both really enjoyed it!! It was so tasty!!!! I made a few very small tweaks, but I will not use any other beef stew recipe – this one is staying with this family!
