The Best Crockpot Chicken Noodle Soup
NOTE: In the comments, you will see that a few people have reported their noodle disintegrating after adding them to the crockpot. I have no idea why this is happening, and have NEVER had that happen any of the times we have made this soup. BUT, I have only used No Yoke brand noodles. Other people have also reported success with No Yoke Noodles and Walmart Generic brand noodles. If you do not have access to those brands of noodles and are concerned, you can also just boil your noodle separately.
Directions
- In a 6 quart crockpot place whole chicken breasts on the bottom and top with , carrots, onion, celery, garlic, olive oil, thyme and bay leaf.

- Next add in chicken broth, water, and season with salt and pepper to taste. I used 1/2 teaspoon salt & 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
Cover and cook on low heat 6 – 7 hours.

- Remove cooked chicken breasts and cut into bite sized pieces. Place chicken back in to the crockpot. Now add in egg noodles and parsley.
Cover and cook just until noodles are tender, 5-10 minutes.

- Enjoy with your favorite crackers!

this recipe was great. i used 1 teaspoon of italian seasoning herb bc i was out of thyme and bay leaves , 6 cups of water with 2 cubes of the larger knorr chicken bullion instead of stock. i omitted the salt and oil, put in on 3 hrs high instead and it still came out fine and perfect for days like today, when i am home sick by myself.
Made this today. It is a quick version of my flu buster chicken soup. I added 1/2 a Jalepano, chopped fine and a can of Ro*Tel diced tomatoes…we like spice. This is a good feel chicken noodle soup…. 🙂
Has anyone kept the slow cooker on stay warm for an extended period of time for this recipe? Just wondering how the noodles hold up? I would like to make some to serve at an event that will be over four of five hours so would like to keep warm until served
Hi! I’ve made this so many times now and I love it but I’m short on time today. How long will this take if I cook it on high?
Hi,
I love your chicken noodle soup recipe! It it amazing. My husband and I both love it. However the only problem that I’ve had is that this is the 2nd or 3rd time making it and for some reason I didn’t have as much broth as I did the other times. However I did add more celery and carrots this time, could that be the reason? Would it be okay to add an extra 2 cans of chicken stock? Or what would be your recommendation?
Thanks!
That would totally be fine to add more both. Those extra veggies probably sucked up the extra liquid.
