Crockpot Salisbury Steak
If you’ve never had Salisbury steak, there’s one thing you need to be clear on: it’s not steak. It’s actually more like a really good, juicy hamburger – but instead of serving it on a bun with mustard or mayo, you serve it over mashed potatoes, topped with onions and mushrooms and rich, brown gravy. This turns plain old ground beef into a company dinner.

Now, the key to a good Salisbury steak is the gravy. And the key to a good gravy is a long, slow cooking, which gives all the juices from the beef, onions, and mushrooms plenty of time to blend.
In other words…it’s a perfect job for the Crockpot.

This Crockpot Salisbury Steak is simple to make. First, you make the beef patties, mixed up with some bread crumbs and seasonings to make them extra juicy and flavorful. Give those a quick browning in a pan, then pop them in the crock with the gravy for a nice, long soak. After several hours on low heat, you just take out the patties, thicken up the gravy, and combine it back together to serve.

Dished up over potatoes, this is as tender and flavorful as a real steak – and a lot cheaper.

Yummy! And easy. I’m thinking maybe a touch of Worcheshire sauce in the meat mix next time, too.

So happy you liked it Jean!
Lovin’ on this recipe! It looks so yummy and can’t wait to try it after trying so many other disappointing ones. I do have a question about the mushrooms. How many ounces of mushrooms is a pint, which is called for in your recipe?
A pint is about 16oz Sally. I hope you love it! It’s one of our favorites!
I made this and the family loved it! This is a once a week dinner now for us!
Can I use plain breadcrumbs?
I don’t see why not 🙂 Any bread crumbs should work
