Easy Crockpot Meatloaf Dinner
How to make meatloaf in the crockpot!
Meatloaf is sort of the all-purpose, go-to dinner recipe. It doesn’t call for any complicated or expensive ingredients. It’s easy. And pretty much everyone likes it.
The only problem with meatloaf is the time it takes to make. First you have to mix up and shape the loaf, and then it needs about an hour in the oven. Not exactly a convenient meal for days when you’re going to be on the go right up until dinnertime.
The obvious solution for this problem? Make the meatloaf in the Crockpot! In fact, I went one better and found a way to cook the entire meal in the Crockpot – meatloaf, carrots, and potatoes, all at once.

It does take a little bit of time to assemble the meatloaf in the morning and load it into the slow cooker, with its backup band of carrots, taters, and a tangy tomato glaze. But once it’s all loaded up in the crock, you don’t have to do another thing – it just cooks on low, all by itself, while you’re out and about.
When you get home, your meat, veggies, and potatoes will all be cooked to perfection and ready to serve. So now, your go-to dinner recipe can be your come-home-to dinner recipe, too.

Hi . Love your site, but do not have or use a crockpot as my husband does not like meals cooked in them. So wondering if you use regular ovens too?
I do have some other meatloaf recipes on the site that do use the oven. Search for meatloaf in the search bar and you should see some options.
Could I prepare everything the night before and put it into the refrigerator overnight and in the morning put it into the crockpot?
I haven’t ever trying that be fore Carrie, but I think it should work. Let us know how it turns out for you.
Crockpot would need to be at room temp before turning it on, otherwise it could crack the bowl.
Sounds good. Could you use potatoes other than red potatoes?
I already mixed up the meatloaf and put in the crockpot with the potatoes. I then realized that I didn’t use the A1, ketchup and barbecue sauce. The directions didn’t say when to add it.
Hi Donna. Sorry for any confusion. Those are listed as “topping” ingredients in the post. On step three is says how and what to do with them. I hope that helps.
No they aren’t listed as topping ingredients. They are under Ingredients. Or else ketchup is listed twice. Am going to make this tomorrow so please clarify.
Hi Diana, Yes there is ketchup in the meatloaf and also for the topping.
What size crockpot did you use?
For this recipe I used a 6qt.
I am wondering if it would mess the meatloaf up in anyway if it touched the sides while it cooked.
No, it shouldn’t mess up the meatloaf. If you have a hot running slow cooker, you might just have some well done areas where it is touching.
