Can I use crushed pineapple instead of tidbits?

Yes, crushed pineapple works just fine. Just be sure to drain it well and reserve a few tablespoons of the juice.

What kind of ham works best?

Diced deli ham or leftover baked ham both work great. You can also use cubed ham steak for a meatier texture.

Can I add other mix ins?

For sure. Diced red bell pepper, chopped macadamia nuts, or a dash of cayenne pepper are all great additions
