Enjoy this creamy Tzatziki recipe with sliced vegetables, pita wedges, tortilla chips, or your favorite crackers. It’s great as an appetizer for your next party or outdoor BBQ.

Recipe Notes:

  • I’ve included fresh mint and dill in this recipe which just seems to add to the refreshing flavors of the dip. If you want to make more of a basic Tzatziki then you could omit these but I strongly urge you to try my version out first!
  • Follow my directions for removing as much excess liquid from the grated cucumber as possible otherwise this could make the dip watery.
  • Traditional Tzatziki is made with goat or sheep’s yogurt but since this can be more challenging to find, I just stick to Greek yogurt. You could also use another plain yogurt but then make sure that it’s full fat.
  • For a vegan or dairy-free version of this creamy Tzatziki dip, use cashew sour cream (thinned out a bit with a splash of water) or coconut yogurt instead. These vegan alternatives can be sourced in health shops or health sections of main grocery stores.
What is Tzatziki Sauce?

Tzatziki is a traditional Greek sauce that’s made with full fat yogurt, cucumbers, olive oil, fresh herbs, and fresh juice from a lemon. While there are slight variations of the classic Tzatziki sauce, these main ingredients always show an appearance.

How should I serve this creamy tzatziki dip?

There are quite a few ways that you could serve this Tzatziki dip. You use it as a spread on sandwiches or savory crackers; thin it out and use it as a sauce over pasta salads or steamed vegetables…of course my favorite way to enjoy Tzatziki is as a creamy dip served alongside falafels, meatballs, and sliced veggies.

How should I store this dip?

This dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. After that, the dip can start to turn bad due to the cream-based ingredients, the cucumber may turn quite soft and you may even notice liquid starting to pool at the surface of the dip.

Can I freeze this cucumber dip?

I don’t recommend freezing this dip since it contains dairy-based ingredients which could separate once frozen and thawed.
