Healthy Apple Pie Smoothie

Apple Pie Smoothie in a glass jar, topped with whipped cream and a graham cracker

Ah, apple pie. That classic, all-American dessert. Sweet and tangy apples blending with spicy cinnamon, melting in your mouth in a flaky crust. What could be more comforting?

If only it weren’t so rich! Did you know that one-eighth of a 9-inch apple pie has 300 calories and 14 grams of fat? It’s true—just Google it. Sure, those are 300 worthy calories, but it’s still not something you want to indulge in every day.

Unless you indulge in my much lighter, healthier version that you can whip up in the blender. Its blend of sweet honey, creamy yogurt, apples, and milk satisfies your apple pie cravings without all the extra fat. If you really miss the crust, just garnish it with a graham cracker. And since it’s so light, you can even add a little extra indulgence by topping it with a spritz of whipped cream.

Did you have problems with the consistency of the smoothie? I tried it, but it was very chunky, even though I blended it very well. Did you ever have this problem? Thank you in advance! I’m sure that if I figured out what I did wrong it would be a delicious recipe! Oh, P.S. I left the honey out to make it healthier. Could that have been the problem?

    1. I haven’t had that problem Grace. I don’t think the honey would affect it either. Maybe it’s just the different kinds of blenders?

  3. Do you have the nutrition into for this? Calories, carbs, etc?

I tried this recipe with a twist. I was in a hurry and did not want to chop an apple plus felt it would make smoothie too chunky. I used honey crisp apple cider instead about 2 cups and 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk, with non dairy vanilla Silk yogurt. It was delicious. I made it for 2 people. I too would love to know nutritional information for the regular recipe.
