Taco Hand Pies
These deliciously hot and flaky hand pies are packed with taco seasoned ground beef, black beans, corn and blended cheese, making it a fantastic alternative and change from the classic taco!
These hand pies are perfect to add to your game-day appetizer table, as a road trip snack or for an easy midweek meal with a side of sour cream, rice, salsa or another side dish of your choice.
Recipe Notes:
- If you have any remaining taco meat, store it in your refrigerator and use the leftovers during the following days to make a couple of soft tacos for lunch or as an easy midweek dinner.
- For frozen pre-baked pies: Brush your pies with egg wash after thawed and then bake in the oven.
- Have any leftover chicken or turkey? You can substitute the ground beef for leftover poultry. If you do, consider adding some cream cheese to the taco mix to avoid it being on the dry side.
- This recipe can easily be doubled if you plan on making a batch ahead of time and store in the freezer.
Once baked and then completely cooled, these hand pies can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days.
Yes, you can! These taco hand pies freeze very well. You can either assemble your taco hand pies and store them in the freezer prior to baking or store them in your freezer once they have baked and are completely cooled.
Place your hand pies on a baking sheet uncovered and store in the freezer or 2-3 hours or till hardened. Once hardened, transfer them to a freezer bag for up to 4 months.
To reheat, place your pies in the oven till heated throughout.
