Experience this Midwestern classic for yourself.
If you don’t live in the Midwest, you’ve probably never been to Maid-Rite, a chain of diners that stretches from Ohio to Iowa. And that’s too bad, because it means you’ve probably never experienced Maid-Rite’s classic “loose meat” sandwich.
The loose meat sandwich isn’t exactly a hamburger, and it isn’t exactly a sloppy Joe. It’s kind of a cross between the two, with well-seasoned, browned ground beef served loose on a warm bun. You can get it either plain or with melted cheese. Maid-Rite fans swear by it – but since there are only 33 Maid-Rite restaurants in the whole country, most of us haven’t had the chance to try it.
There’s only one solution: make your own.
My Maid-Rite Sliders have the one-of-a-kind flavor of this Midwestern classic in a handy slider form. You can whip up a whole tray of them for your next party in under an hour. For most of us, that’s definitely a lot less time than it would take to drive to the nearest Maid-Rite.
Try a batch of these Maid-Rite sliders, and enjoy the flavor of this unique sandwich without having to make a special trip.

I was born and raised in a city that had a Maid Rite shop. OMG! they are wonderful! I think the original recipe used chicken broth/bouillon, but i have always made them with beef broth. M-M-M. Think I will make them this week! Thanks for reminding me.
