Avocado Mango Smoothie

This Avocado Mango Smoothie is thick, creamy, and ready in just a couple of minutes. Frozen mango gives it a sweet tropical flavor, while avocado makes the smoothie extra smooth without giving it a strong avocado taste.

Greek yogurt adds even more creaminess, and almond milk helps everything blend together. A little honey can be added depending on how sweet your mango is. It makes an easy breakfast, afternoon snack, or quick smoothie when you want something cold and refreshing.

Easy Avocado Mango Smoothie Variations

Add banana: Blend in half of a frozen banana for an even thicker and sweeter smoothie.
Make it dairy-free: Use a dairy-free yogurt along with almond milk or coconut milk.
Add spinach: A handful of baby spinach blends easily into this smoothie if you want to add some greens.
Use coconut milk: Coconut milk pairs especially well with mango and gives the smoothie more tropical flavor.
Make it less sweet: Skip the honey if your mango is already sweet enough.

Can I Use Fresh Mango Instead of Frozen Mango?

Yes. Fresh mango works well, but frozen mango helps make the smoothie colder and thicker. If you use fresh mango, add a handful of ice before blending.

Can You Taste the Avocado in a Mango Avocado Smoothie?

Not much. Mango has a stronger flavor than avocado, and using only half an avocado gives the smoothie a creamy texture without making it taste strongly of avocado. Using a ripe avocado is important. An underripe avocado can have a stronger flavor and won’t blend as smoothly.

Can I Freeze Leftover Smoothie?

Yes. Pour leftover smoothie into an ice cube tray and freeze. Once frozen, transfer the cubes to a freezer bag. Blend the smoothie cubes later with a splash of milk, or add them to another mango smoothie to make it thicker.

Can I Make This Smoothie Without Greek Yogurt?

Yes. You can use a dairy-free yogurt if needed, or leave the yogurt out and add a little more avocado for creaminess. You may need to adjust the amount of milk depending on how thick you want your smoothie.

Ingredient Notes

  • Frozen mango: Gives the smoothie its sweet mango flavor and helps create a thick, cold texture.
  • Avocado: Adds creaminess and richness without overpowering the mango.
  • Greek yogurt: Makes the smoothie creamy and adds a little tang.
  • Almond milk: Helps everything blend smoothly. Regular milk or coconut milk also works well.
  • Honey: Adds extra sweetness. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more if needed.

Note: If you do not have frozen fruit to use for the smoothies, fresh fruit will work just fine. If using fresh fruit, make sure to add a handful of ice to the other ingredients before blending. The frozen fruit just adds that cold element to make an ice cold drink.

Notes

How to Store and Reheat
Refrigerator
  • Store leftovers in a jar with a tight lid for up to 1 day. It will separate and thicken as it sits, which is normal. Shake it hard or run it through the blender for a few seconds before drinking. The avocado keeps browning to a minimum, but it is still best fresh.
Freezer
  • Pour leftovers into an ice cube tray and freeze. Toss the cubes back into the blender later with a splash of milk for an instant second round, or drop them into a plain mango smoothie to thicken it up.
Meal prep
  • Build freezer packs ahead. Portion the frozen mango and the scooped avocado into individual freezer bags and stack them in the freezer for up to 3 months. In the morning, dump one bag into the blender with the yogurt, milk and honey. No measuring before coffee.
Ripeness matters more than anything else. An underripe avocado is the one thing that will make this taste green. It should press in gently at the stem end. p text
Tip text Do not overdo the avocado. More is not creamier past a certain point, it just starts tasting like avocado. Stick with the amount in the card.
