My kids really like this – making another batch now. Will add more salt, but we’re salty folks!
carolyn says
Sounds good. Hope I have everything to make it for . Our burgers and fries today.
dainty39gm says
Sounds great. How is it used, before or after cooking?
Corey says
Both! Use it while thing are cooking or to add some flavor after 🙂
Dade Williams says
On a whim I made some fries for a late night snack and tried your seasoning and it was delicious, didn’t have garlic powder or celery salt but still great and it reminds me of the Mexican chilli chips from when I was a kid 😉
kettler says
I had a fish fry and made homemade chips I put that season on the chip every one loved it from my kids to my parents a job well done
Shasta says
Where did you get that jar from? Its the perfect size for spices.
Corey says
It is actually an old spice jar I recycled 🙂
A says
The spice jar looks like its from Target 🙂 definitely will be saving my spice jars from there and will fill it with this!
Jeremy says
How is this without salt? I dont use salt because of health reasons.
Jessie says
Maybe try a salt substitute?
Leah Lawhern says
I use this as a chicken rub. BEST CHICKEN EVER!!

Emily says
I just made steak fries and put this on it. Delicious!!!!!!
Diane C. says
What type of salt did you use?
Debbie G says
Not to be a party pooper, but how does it taste without the salt in it? More and more folks I know are living with less salt in their diet, for good reason, so I’m truly looking for a salt free alternative. Your site is really great, I’m finding a lot of helpful information here. Keep up the good work.
Corey says
Debbie I think if would still taste fine with less salt. I think most people who use this recipe are looking for a seasoning salt, but I think cutting out or lessoning the salt would still taste fine 🙂
Helen krahn says
Hi. Just wondering how much of this would i use for making burgers with 2 pounds of ground beef.
Corey says
Helen, it really all depends on taste. Some folks are salt sensitive, while others LOVE their savory dishes. I would suggest starting with less, and adding more as a burger topper if need be.
Sharon says
My daughter tried this in burger and used 1 Tbsp per one pound of ground beef
Carnise says
I tried this recipe and was very excited about being able to give our French fries a nice boost of flavor but it was the exact opposite….there was way too much salt and It completely ruined the meal. Followed the measurements to the letter EXCEPT I only put in half of the garlic salt.
Corey says
Sorry you didn’t like ti Carnise. It is a seasoning salt…not a rub, so it is supposed to be salty.
Helena Handbag says
Seems to be common sense to me that if someone should over-season something to the point it “ruined the meal”, one surely can’t blame the seasoning! LOL At that rate, putting too much bleach in the laundry I can blame the bleach for ruining my clothes! 😉
On a new seasoning, I ALWAYS try a little on maybe a fry or two or a bite of the burger before pouring it all over everything. And one should also start with a little and add more if you want more. All good cooks know you can always add more, but you can’t remove excess when mixed in.
This sounds like an interesting seasoning to try. I’ve been trying to come up with a versatile seasoning. I want to try a very small amount at the exact recipe before making any adjustments. I might want to add some onion powder, and cut the salts in it by cutting the salt down and using more garlic powder rather than the garlic salt. I really like celery salt so one experiment might be to try more celery salt in place of the regular salt.
Thanks for posting this. I’m looking forward to giving it a try!
Michelle says
I made this seasoning about a year ago, and it is amazing! I use it on my burgers, and they are my boyfriend’s most requested dish. Thank you for the recipe!
Mike says
I’ve tried five or six other seasoning recipes, but this is far and away the best!
Absolutely exceptional on fries, and though it is salty it is the GOOD kind of salty!
Can’t wait to try this on other foods as well…the taste is out of this world!
mike a. says
would this be good on pork chops??
Corey says
Yes! Yummy idea!
Brian Brown says
What about using Kosher salt instead of table salt, and cut the amount in half? 🙂
Thoughts? I primarily only use Kosher salt, as I ditched table salt a long time ago. Just don’t care for the chemical taste of table salt.
Corey says
Yep! That’s a great idea Brian 🙂
Caileen says
Do you mix it in with the beef or sprinkle on the cooked burger? Sounds delish!
Corey says
Either Caileen! There are so many uses for it 🙂
Jenna says
Can you clarify whether the recipe uses smoked or sweet paprika?
Corey says
I think either would be fine, but I have always used smoked.
Kim says
Hi! Looking forward to trying this recipe! I also love the picture and fonts you used for your graphic. Do you remember which font you used for the word “seasoning”? Just curious, thanks!
twodoxiesmom says
How long does this last in the container, 1 month, 6 months, 12 months ?????
Corey says
I would say if stored in a cool dry place, the seasoning would be good for 4-6 months. Ours is usually all used up with in 3 months 🙂
twodoxiesmom says
Thank you.
Martin says
I made this and it’s the best seasoning I’ve ever tasted,is there anything I can do to stop it setting in the shaker. ?
Isla says
Hey I’m going to try this but as a guide how much would you roughly put in a 6oz burger? A teaspoon or more?
Corey says
I usually use about 2-3 tsp per pound… so I think 1 tsp would work great!
Billy says
Question, it indicates 1/4 cup of salt. I’m planning on using Kosher salt but isnt 1/4 of salt the same as saying 4 table spoons of salt? And if it is 4 tablespoons why not just indicate that in the ingredients? Just spent £30 buying all these different ingredients so i dont want to ruin it with too much salt. Thanks.
Corey says
Yes, 1/4 a cup is 4 Tablespoons.
Billy says
Ok thanks for clarifying, I’ll use 2 table spoons instead as Kosher salt has a higher density than nornal salt.
Joan says
Even though this is a seasoning & can be sprinkled sparingly I still cut the salt amount. I use 2 TBLS salt , I omit the garlic salt and increase the garlic powder by 1tsp. This meets my taste , while cutting back on the salt . (Using 1 TBLS salt = very little flavor)
Nikita Allen says
The beat seasoning ever. You won’t be disappointed!
embeya says
I had a fish fry and made homemade chips I put that season on the chip every one loved it from my kids to my parents a job well done
Lisa says
But how do you use it? Mix it in with the burger meat? Use it as a rub? Sprinkle it on before cooking or after cooking? On the fries — before or after cooking?
Corey says
All of the above! lol. It works as a great meat seasoning. You can add a litter extra after cooking if you like too. Same with the fries. It’s an all purpose type of seasoning!
Lisa Pearson says
This really is the best fry seasoning ever! Thanks for sharing!!
Michelle says
Can’t wait to try this. I use sea salt. Same amount as regular table salt?
Corey says
Yes Michelle.
Sharon Frances says
I have made this recipe many times and have given it out as gifts. Rave reviews from all.
