Ingredient Notes

- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts: The star of this recipe that becomes juicy chicken and tender chicken after slow cooking.
- Onion: Adds savory flavor and depth to the creamy broth.
- Garlic: Fresh garlic provides rich home-cooked flavor.
- Cream of Chicken Soup: Creates the creamy sauce and helps thicken the broth.
- Chicken Broth: The base of the savory broth that keeps everything rich and flavorful.
- Butter: Adds richness and helps create a silky texture.
- Dried Parsley: Provides subtle herb flavor throughout the dish.
- Dried Thyme: Adds warmth and complements the chicken perfectly.
- Dried Sage: Gives this dish a classic old fashioned chicken flavor.
- Garlic Powder: Boosts the savory seasoning blend.
- Salt and Black Pepper: Enhance all of the flavors in the dish.
- Dried Homestyle Egg Noodles: Tender egg noodles soak up the creamy broth and become the perfect comfort food.
Yes. While dried homestyle noodles are my favorite, you can use wide egg noodle, thick egg noodles, Amish noodles, medium egg noodles, or no-yolk noodles. Spaghetti noodles can work in a pinch, but egg noodles provide the best texture.
Absolutely. Boneless chicken thighs create extra juicy chicken and add additional flavor.
Add the dry noodles during the final 30 minutes of cooking. Overcooking is the main cause of mushy noodles.
Store leftovers in an airtight container or covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
When reheating, warm the chicken and noodles on the stovetop over medium heat. Add additional chicken broth as needed since the noodles will absorb quite a bit of liquid during storage.
You can also microwave individual portions, stirring halfway through heating.
