DIY Movie Night Popcorn Bar
DIY Movie Night Popcorn Bar
We love family movie nights over here. It’s a great time to come together and snuggle up with a big bowl of popcorn and treats! In the summer months, we like to kick movie night up a notch and set up an outdoor movie for friends and family to enjoy.

A quick and easy treat I like to set up for these nights is a DIY Movie Night Popcorn Bar. Simply pop a HUGE batch of popcorn, and set out some sweet popcorn toppers. This way you get to please both your savory and sweet tooth!
For my fruity treat lovers, try using gummy bears, Skittles, or Mike and Ikes.
Any chocolate lovers out there?
Some ideas for you are mini peanut butter cups or Kit Kats, M&Ms or Reese’s Pieces.
Both adults and kids will have a blast creating their own theater treats. Mixing matching salty and sweet until you heart’s content!

what did you line the berry baskets with?
It’s wax paper made to look like newspaper. Here is a link to where I get it 🙂

I was looking for a reason to have movie night and you just gave one. My four year old, Emma is looking over my shoulder and she saw all those toppers so apparently Veggie Tales is going to be the featured film.
Haha! That is awesome Tom! Enjoy the movie 🙂
What a great idea! I especially like the idea of moving movie night outdoors. We celebrate Friday night at the movies … it’s so fun and I love that it has become a special night. Your addition of the popcorn bar just makes it that much more special! Thanks for sharing!
Love the idea…. but…. waaayyy too much sugar! Think I’ll try it with raisins, seeds, nuts, dried fruit…. all the GOOD stuff 🙂
That’s the best part Amanda! You can customize it to your liking 🙂 Most movie nights we do have healthy toppers, but once in awhile, it’s fun to have treat 🙂
Oh yeah “amanda”, because then the kids will REALLY love it! NOT! Get real………save the snarky and keep it to yourself. What is the point in this comment? It is ok to have “sugar” ONCE in a while.
With all due respect LALA, please, don’t bully people for an opinion when made in good taste. The idea is fabulous and can be tailored to any taste. As the poster commented politely in response, that is the beauty of it. No need to try to downgrade someone when they respectfully express how they will take this great idea and “run with it” to make it fit for their family. Some of us with children on the spectrum and with other issues cannot tolerate all the artificial colors, preservatives and sugar. It’s not meant to be rude, it’s just a fact of our lives. Please try to have some tolerance and understanding and love! Thanks for all the great ideas!
That’s a GREAT idea Amanda!!
I have folks in my group who for health (& other) reasons may not be able to tolerate the high sugar treats. But, they can absolutely 100% participate if given alternative but ‘still fun” and tasty choices. We’ll be having fun with this I promise you!!
I love love love this. It would be such a fun thing to start with my family!
