The Best Crockpot BBQ Chicken
This is going to be the easiest Crockpot BBQ chicken you have ever made. I’m not joking… this really is going to be the easiest BBQ chicken you have ever made. Since I first tested this recipe, it has made it’s way into our meal rotation almost weekly. It is just that good!
Now, don’t get me wrong…nothing beats BBQ chicken straight off the grill. BUT, the flavors of this recipe can’t be beat and you don’t have to sweat over a hot grill.
Give it a try next week and I bet you will be converted to the crockpot-side 🙂
I used a 6qt slow cooker for this recipe. You could certainly use a smaller cooker if preferred, though I would advise against using a larger one. It’s important to note that some slow cookers require a minimum fill level to prevent damage, so be sure to consult your owner’s manual beforehand.
Our go-to is Sweet Baby Rays. But any of your favorite bbq sauces will work!
Some of our favorites are mac and cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, or cowboy caviar.
The Best Crockpot BBQ Chicken
- Season chicken breast lightly (a small pinch per breast) with some sea salt and place in your crockpot.

- In a mixing bowl combine BBQ sauce, Italian dressing, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well combined.

- Pour over chicken, cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours.

- Once time is up, you can serve the breast whole, or shred with 2 forks. If shredding, recover and let cook in sauce for about 10-15 more minutes to soak up all that delish flavor.

Serve on buns, over rice, in wraps, on a salad or eat a plateful as is! Our favorite way is on fresh rolls, topped with coleslaw.

This recipe is every bit as simple and delicious as it claims. I followed the cooking instructions as it said. I cooked it for 4 hours and before shredding it, I cut the chicken breasts in thirds so that when I shredded it, the shreds would not be so long. The meat just fell apart in saucy deliciousness! Exactly as it says, it will look very saucy, but after you shred it and mix the juices in and simmer another 15 minutes, the juices are soaked up nicely! I toasted some fat kaiser rolls, topped it with chicken, a little extra BBQ sauce and crisp cole slaw! The next time, I also added a few drops of hot sauce which gave it depth and warmth. Totally recommend this!!!! Thank you!
Made this today, doubled recipe though because I have a large greedy family..lol. As the reviews stated it makes your house smell wonderful. It cooked up very nice, shredded easily, and upon taste testing it is wonderful. Will definitely be a new household favorite. I used baby rays original and hickory brown sugar bbq sauce and it was so amazing.
This was DELICIOUS! Even our picky toddler loved it! I didn’t specifically have any Italian salad dressing, so I used an oil-based Ceasar and Sweet Baby Rays. It actually made more than enough sauce, too, which isn’t typical of other recipes I’ve tried. Think I’ll try is with pork next time. This is definitely a “keeper!”
Thank Valerie! So happy your picky eater loved it 🙂
Hiya I’m in the uk can you tell me what’s the best Bbq sauce to use an were I can get the zesty Italian sauce thanks
The zesty Italian dressing is the liquid dressing you put on salads. Here is a link on how to make your own 🙂 http://hip2save.com/2015/08/10/homemade-zesty-italian-seasoning-dressing-packet/
As for BBQ sauce, any will work just fine!
What if your chicken is frozen, not thawed?
