The Best Crockpot BBQ Chicken
This is going to be the easiest Crockpot BBQ chicken you have ever made. I’m not joking… this really is going to be the easiest BBQ chicken you have ever made. Since I first tested this recipe, it has made it’s way into our meal rotation almost weekly. It is just that good!
Now, don’t get me wrong…nothing beats BBQ chicken straight off the grill. BUT, the flavors of this recipe can’t be beat and you don’t have to sweat over a hot grill.
Give it a try next week and I bet you will be converted to the crockpot-side 🙂
I used a 6qt slow cooker for this recipe. You could certainly use a smaller cooker if preferred, though I would advise against using a larger one. It’s important to note that some slow cookers require a minimum fill level to prevent damage, so be sure to consult your owner’s manual beforehand.
Our go-to is Sweet Baby Rays. But any of your favorite bbq sauces will work!
Some of our favorites are mac and cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, or cowboy caviar.
The Best Crockpot BBQ Chicken
- Season chicken breast lightly (a small pinch per breast) with some sea salt and place in your crockpot.

- In a mixing bowl combine BBQ sauce, Italian dressing, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well combined.

- Pour over chicken, cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours.

- Once time is up, you can serve the breast whole, or shred with 2 forks. If shredding, recover and let cook in sauce for about 10-15 more minutes to soak up all that delish flavor.

Serve on buns, over rice, in wraps, on a salad or eat a plateful as is! Our favorite way is on fresh rolls, topped with coleslaw.

I used chicken breasts and worried it would be dry,but it was wonderful. I have a question for you.I hope you have an answer. Right now I own one of those big oval cookers. I am now alone and I am considering going to a 5 quart size. Does that change cooking time? Do you see an disadvantages to the smaller pot? Sadly no one posts the size of their cooker in recipes. Would be grateful for for your input. Thank You, Barb
Hello! I’m trying to be brave and start using a slow cooker to cook meals whilst I’m at work (over coming my fear of burning the house down using one!). As I live on my own I want to cook recipies such as this (it looks amazing) have a yummy dinner and then freeze the leftovers to eat at a later date. Would this be a good meal for that and if yes how do you reccomene I reheat it? Thank you for your help 🙂
Doing a beer tasting dinner with 4 picky couples and I wanted to be a part of it and not cooking so I tried it out first on us just to be sure…OMG! No lies…the house smelled fantastic and I was glad I threw in an extra breast cause I ate almost a whole one shreding it! If not serving that day keep out the juice because when you go to serve it it will be all soaked up into the chicken. Just a hint! Thank you soooo much for this and let’s see how the picky couples like it! Almost forgot…hollow out the top and bottom of roll and put chicken in one hole and coleslaw in the other and it won’t fall all out!
My husband and I LOVED this recipe. The first time I made it I had accidentally bought Sweet Baby Rays Honey BBQ sauce which definitely added a sweeter twist to the recipe, but I’ve since corrected and used Original and we LOVE it. I like to shred it and have it on a toasted bun with grilled pineapple on top. Let me tell you, it’s AMAZING. Thanks for the recipe!!
I made this and my boyfriend liked it so much we served it to party of people we had at our beach house, and there it was a hit. The only thing I did was add some hot sauce to it, because we like spice, and it was phenomenal. Thank you so much, this is a recipe I will make often.
