Italian Salami Tomato Tart
If you had to come up with a list of dishes that everybody likes, pizza would almost certainly be right at the top of it. A hot pizza, fresh out of the oven, puts a smile on the face of even the pickiest eaters.
This makes pizza a perfect dish to serve for parties. From kids’ birthday parties to game-day parties to holiday get-togethers, it’s always appropriate. There’s only one kind of party you wouldn’t bring pizza to: a really fancy one. Because pizza may be a crowd-pleaser, but it’s just not elegant. You’d feel kind of funny putting it out at a fancy luncheon, or a ritzy cocktail party.

But a tomato tart, on the other hand – now that sounds classy.
This Tomato Tart has all the appeal of pizza, but in a dressier form. You could serve it at a wedding brunch or a fundraising dinner, and no one would bat an eye.
And better still, it’s even easier to make than pizza. It has just five ingredients: puff pastry, Italian seasoning, sliced tomatoes, Gypsy salami, and Parmesan cheese. All you have to do is roll out the dough, top it, and pop it in the oven for about 20 minutes. And presto – a beautiful, elegant tart that tastes as good as it looks.
Italian Salami Tomato Tart
Ingredients:
1 sheet Puff pastry
6-8 pieces Gypsy or Genoa Salami
6-8 Cherry tomatoes
1 tsp Italian seasoning
3 tbsp Parmesan cheese
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Flour the counter and roll out the sheet of pastry to approximately 1/8” thick. Place pastry sheet on to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
2. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the top.
3. Dice the salami into small pieces and sprinkle over the top of the dough. Slice the cherry tomatoes lengthwise in 3-4 slices (thin) and place on top of the dough. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese.
7. Bake in the oven for about 18-20 minutes, but check at 15 to check it’s progress.
Notes:
You can use whole roma tomatoes if you prefer (you would need only 1)
Feel free to vary the amount of the ingredients. This is all to preference. If you prefer more salami or more cheese, indulge!

After you roll out your puff pastry on the counter how do you get it into the oven ? There is no mention of placing it on a cookie sheet or a prepped sheet.

What the heck is Gypsy Salami? I never heard of it. Is it anything like Genoa Salami, or perhaps like Italian Cooked Salami?
It’s very similar to Genoa Salami 🙂
