Nutella Cruffins
If you’re a fan of Nutella and love flaky, buttery pastries, then Nutella Cruffins are going to be your new obsession. These delicious hybrid treats combine the best of croissants and muffins—light, crisp layers with gooey, melted chocolate in every bite.
Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick dessert, these cruffins are sure to impress without taking hours to make. Plus, with only three main ingredients, they are the epitome of simplicity and indulgence. Ready to bake something irresistibly good?.
Ingredients Needed:
- Refrigerated puff pastry: I used Jus-Rol brand refrigerated puff pastry dough. You can use a frozen puff pastry however you need to thaw it in the refrigerator first and you may need to roll the pastry out until it reaches about 15 inches in length.
- Nutella: Any Hazelnut spread can be used if desired.
- Mini chocolate chips: You can substitute regular chocolate chips, white chocolate chips or omit these completely.
Nutella Cruffins can be stored in an airtight container or bag for up to 2 days at room temperature or a week in the refrigerator. Alternatively they can be frozen for up to 2 months. Be sure to thaw any frozen cruffins in the refrigerator and they can be reheated in the oven, at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, for 10-15 minutes or until heated through. They can also be reheated in the microwave, however it will affect the texture of the cruffins.
These Nutella Cruffins can easily be adjusted if desired. The Nutella can be substituted with any nut or chocolate spread if desired. The mini chocolate chips can be substituted for any type of mix-in, such as white chocolate chips, chopped pecans, hazelnuts or sprinkles. You can also use another type of dough such as croissant dough, pizza dough or pie dough. Keep in mind that different types of dough need different amounts of time to cook and may affect the final cruffin texture.
Yes! You can prepare them the night before and bake them fresh in the morning. Just cover the muffin tin with plastic wrap and store it in the fridge overnight.
Absolutely! Once baked and cooled, store them in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to three months. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven to get them crispy again.
These can also be kept in the fridge for up to five days, though they may lose some crispiness. Warm them up in the oven to bring back their flakiness.
