Now, don’t get me wrong…nothing beats BBQ chicken straight off the grill. BUT, the flavors of this recipe can’t be beat and you don’t have to sweat over a hot grill.

Give it a try next week and I bet you will be converted to the crockpot-side 🙂

What size slow cooker should I use?

I used a 6qt slow cooker for this recipe. You could certainly use a smaller cooker if preferred, though I would advise against using a larger one. It’s important to note that some slow cookers require a minimum fill level to prevent damage, so be sure to consult your owner’s manual beforehand.

What kind of BBQ sauce should I use?

Our go-to is Sweet Baby Rays. But any of your favorite bbq sauces will work!

What should I serve as a side with this Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Recipe?

Just got a slow cooker and what a way to have christened it! Made a few alterations due to missing ingredients but overall was amazing! Definitely making this again! I served it with salad and pitta bread with coleslaw. My only complaint would be how much of a tease the smell is as it’s cooking, takes a lot of willpower to leave it bubbling when really you just wanna eat it there and then!

Tried this the other day!!!! Amazing!!! also…. I bought some cups so I did have to Convert American measurements to British.

  3. Hi Corey! This sounds perfect to serve at my daughters birthday party. I plan to double the recipe.. Dumb question but would I keep the cooking time the same for 4lbs vs 2lbs?

    Thanks!!!

    1. Not dumb at all! I would increase it maybe a little, 30min-60mins, but not by much. Just check the chicken after the suggested cooking time to make sure it is fully cooked… if not, check again after 30, and then 60 🙂 I hope that helps!

  4. I was wondering if the chicken has to be thawed or if I can use frozen chicken? Thanks.

    1. I have thawed chicken myself, but I believe people have commented on here that they have used frozen.

I am a man with no cooking experience so this is the ultimate test for the easiness of this recipe. If it comes out alright then I approve this recipe! 😉
